I have been taking pictures since I was a young girl never taking a class until I was an adult. At that time I wondered what had taken me so long, as I instantly fell in love with the dark room. I would spend hours in the dark, manipulating that tiny piece of film strip, playing with the light over and over again. Fascinating! I have a passion for the natural, raw beauty and the stark contrasts. Spending time and taking hundreds of photographs in Africa fulfilled the passion. I was told that Africa changes you, that it becomes part of your heart and soul and you will never look at the same things - the same way again. It changed me and it changed the way I take pictures, turning more to the simple things in life. Barefoot, maybe with jeans rolled up, outdoors on a cool day...where the subject can be touched be the natural light. I adore Black and White, but enjoy Sepia and Color photography as well. I am a mother of a three year old so I know what it takes, besides patience, to get that natural expression on your child's face letting their true self shine through.

Capturing the emotion...

It is always such a thrill to "Capture the Emotion". finding that definitive moment in time. Photography is emotional, and we all have our favorite shots. The ones that "take us back", the ones that make us smile without thought, the ones that make us feel like we are still "right there". My work is all about finding that moment in time, THE moment, THE smile, THE glance, the one that makes the photograph become an heirloom forever.
